A scriptural foundation for aliyah

Sadly, the vast majority of Christians today are indifferent to, or ignorant of, God's holy call to gather Jewish people home to Israel
(writes Dr Richard Gottier). With many it is the result of being untaught in God's Word; with others it is the outcome of widespread teaching that God is finished with Israel - replacement theology.

"How can I share God's purposes for the Church concerning aliyah with my untaught friends?" I hear you cry. The answer is straightforward: they must see how the Word of God clearly prophesies about this holy work right down to the smallest detail. In response to this need a few years ago, the Lord led me to gather many prophecies into a leaflet called Making Aliyah and Scriptural Prophecy.

Yet a central question remained: How does aliyah fit into God's total plans for restoring Israel in these final moments of history? Israel was called to live under the divine covenant our Lord made with Abraham - to be a holy people as long as they lived, worked and worshipped in a sacred land. They did not keep that covenant, but now, after 2,000 years, it is once again the focus of God's heart.

Recently the Lord led me to Ezekiel chapter 36, which I had often taught from and yet missed the comprehensive picture God spells out in its 38 verses. In 10 graphic steps the Lord summarises His total plan for Israel in these final days. Beginning with the land, long desolate and barren, He promises full restoration: "But you, O mountains of Israel ... will put forth your branches and bear your fruit for My people Israel; for they will soon come ... I will multiply men on you, all the house of Israel, all of it; and the cities will be inhabited and the waste places will be rebuilt" (vs. 8 & 10).

Then, in moving revelation, our Heavenly Father pledges to restore His chosen people: "I will ... gather you from all the lands and bring you into your own land ... then I will sprinkle clean water on you ... I will give you a new heart ... I will put My spirit within you ... You will live in the land that I gave to your forefathers ... you will be My people, and I will be your God" (vs. 24-28).

As this majestic chapter unfolds God promises a restored covenant to a broken and obedient people, a land that again produces richly, a people now as abundant as the flocks on the feast day.

All this is God's last great witness to the nations!

The teaching on the whole chapter is contained in an attractive full-colour leaflet produced by Ebenezer called Ezekiel 36: God's Précis of Aliyah. If you would like to receive a copy, please email us with your request.
